And now for the obligatory halfassed justification! Whereas this may seem like (and, admittedly, basically is) a dumb joke it is infact referencing to a historical occurence. Usually (or rather, in many cultures and eras) neither pirates nor sailors in general used to have woman on their ships for females were thought to be not as physically suited to the hard conditions, being a major distraction as well as frequently causing quarrels amongst the sailors. Since none of that is very helpful in a place where teamwork could be vital at times the impression of “women on ship are bad luck” formed. So with them being banned, the proximity in the night cabins and long, long journeys you may imagine the hilarity that ensued.

<edit>It's probably obvious anyways but I'd feel even more like a bastard if I weren't to say this: The first panel's referencend from a photograph on photobucket. I didn't take it but can't find the link anymore. <editend>
I must say, I really adore your dark tones. The way you contradict your..... your lines and shadow (such as Alfred in panel 6) are really unique. I've never seen someone do that. Very cool, mate.
Thank you very, very much. I think I've seen a couple of Japanese artists do that, too. But it was mostly born out of neccessety, you know, looking at old lines and suddenly seeing everything that needs correcting.
Dem brothels would look mighty temptin'*shot*Anyway, nice work!
